Itinerary
- Pyramids of Giza: Giza Plateau
1.Great Pyramid of Giza (Pyramid of Khufu): The oldest and largest of the three pyramids and the last remaining wonder of the ancient world.
2.Pyramid of Khafre: Recognizable for the remnants of the original limestone casing near its peak.
3.Pyramid of Menkaure: The smallest of the three main pyramids but unique with its own architectural details.
4.Sphinx of Giza: The colossal limestone statue with the body of a lion and head of a pharaoh, likely Khafre.
5.Solar Boat Museum: Close to the Great Pyramid, this museum houses the reconstructed Solar Boat of Khufu, an ancient ceremonial vessel.
6.Tombs of the Nobles and Workers’ Village: These surrounding tombs provide insight into the lives of those who constructed and served the pyramids.
7.Panoramic Viewpoint: A spot where visitors can get a sweeping view of all three pyramids for excellent photo opportunities. - Pyramids of Giza: Great Sphinx of Giza – The iconic limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, believed to represent King Khafre.
- Pyramids of Giza: The Pyramid of Hetepheres, also known as the satellite or subsidiary pyramid of the Great Pyramid of Giza, is a small structure located near the Pyramid of Khufu. Queen Hetepheres I, the mother of Khufu, was an influential figure during Egypt’s 4th Dynasty. While the pyramid itself is modest in size, it holds great historical importance.
The pyramid was likely a symbolic structure rather than an actual burial site. Hetepheres was buried elsewhere in a shaft tomb near the Great Pyramid, known as G 7000X. Connection to Khufu: The pyramid and tomb reflect her significant status as the mother of one of Egypt’s most powerful pharaohs, Khufu. - Pyramids of Giza: The Third Pyramid, also known as the Pyramid of Menkaure, is the smallest of the three main pyramids at Giza. An inside-the-pyramid tour allows visitors to explore its internal structure, though it is less extensive than the Great Pyramid of Khufu. What to Expect Inside Menkaure’s Pyramid:
Descending Passage: A narrow and steep corridor leading down into the pyramid.
Antechamber: A small chamber before the burial chamber.
Burial Chamber: The main chamber where Menkaure’s sarcophagus was originally placed (though the sarcophagus was lost at sea in the 19th century). - Giza: Additional Stops (Optional)
